Academic year 2024–2025

The post is a twelve-month appointment, commencing in late September 2024.

About the post

Lay clerks sing at choral services during the three eight-week terms, on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a rehearsal before each service (4.30pm on Sundays, 5pm on Wednesdays and Fridays), and one 25-minute lunchtime rehearsal each week. There are occasional additional services in term-time, for which a separate fee is paid. The weekly regular commitment during term-time is approximately 8 hours. Dinner in hall is provided free of charge after every choral service.

Lay clerks also sing for the choir’s concerts, both within term-time and during the vacations, and for CD recordings (typically one per year) and tours (one per year). There are separate fees for concerts (including on tour) and CD recordings. Per diems are paid for each day on tour or when away from Oxford for a concert involving overnight accommodation.

Accommodation is not provided by the College for this post. Details about the choir and its activities are at www.queenschoir.com.
