The Queen’s College seeks an exceptional individual to become the College’s next Domestic Bursar. The Queen’s College is one of the oldest Colleges in the University of Oxford with a history dating back to its foundation in 1341. It has some 350 undergraduate and 250 graduate students, and around 45 Official and Professorial Fellows. Together these make up a vibrant academic community. 

The Domestic Bursar is the chief operational officer of the College, reporting to the Bursar for the day-to-day management and longer-term planning of the domestic affairs of the College. The Domestic Bursar’s remit is wide-ranging and comprises the following operations: Estates, Portering, Catering, IT, and Accommodation. The role is supported by a Deputy Domestic Bursar who is directly responsible for Housekeeping, Events and Conferencing. Key priorities include: leading and empowering the heads of department team; and fostering strong relationships across the Fellowship, staff and student communities.  

The College is looking for an experienced leader and effective communicator, with a proven track-record of managing multi-disciplinary functions and of leading large teams. The successful candidate will have excellent relationship-building skills and will know how to empower and value staff. They will be adaptable and must be able to manage a large number of diverse activities, prioritising effectively. They will be able to gain the confidence and trust of multiple constituencies in and outside the College.
