The Tutor for Undergraduates oversees students’ academic performance and their ability to stay on course, including considerations related to fitness to study. Students’ first academic points of contact are their subject tutors, with additional support from moral tutors, the decanal team, and medical professionals as necessary (find information about Welfare here). If a tutor feels that a student would benefit from additional discussion about their academic work, the tutor will refer the student to the Tutorial Review Committee, which the Tutor for Undergraduates chairs. The Tutorial Review Committee formally deals with cases of unsatisfactory work or failures in academic discipline; it tries to help identify and resolve whatever might be holding a student back from meeting her or his academic potential.

Postgraduate students’ first academic points of contact are their supervisors and Department or Faculty. The Tutor for Graduates looks after the academic welfare of postgraduates, and all postgraduate students have an additional College Advisor, usually with expertise in a field related to their research.
