The Translation Exchanges are a series of informal catch-ups and workshops for everyone interested in the practice and tiny details of translation. Hosted by postgraduate students, we also often have special guest hosts, who are usually professional literary translators.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience, languages, or degree stage (undergraduates are definitely welcome). You don’t need to be an Oxford student to attend. The important thing is that you’re curious about translation and want to think about it more. Our sessions are normally informal chats in small groups that last about one hour, with snacks included!

We tend to work with translation problems that participants bring along. If you’re stuck with a translation – whether it’s classwork, something for fun or a professional challenge – we’ll work together as a group to brainstorm solutions and innovations.

If you’d like to get involved with Translation Exchanges, email translation.exchange@queens.ox.ac.uk to be added to our mailing list.
