Junior Research Fellow in Politics Farsan Ghassim has published an article on the (de)legitimation of international organisations in the International Studies Quarterly.

Dr Ghassim said: ‘International organisations often have to fight for their legitimacy. Think of the UN during the current war in Gaza, or the WHO against Trump throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

But how effective are international organisations at legitimating themselves, and how effective are other actors such as governments and protesters at delegitimating them?

My article examines these questions through survey experiments in 10 countries across the global South, North, East, and West’.
