The College warmly congratulates Devajna Gopal (Materials Science, 2022) on receiving the Armourers and Brasiers/Rolls-Royce Prize for an outstanding performance in his Materials Science Prelims. We asked Devajna about his success.
Congratulations! How did it feel to win this prize?
I vividly recall the rush of joy as I hurried to share the news with my parents. Beyond recognizing my efforts throughout the year, it bolstered my confidence and solidified my sense of belonging within the academic community at university.
Receiving this incredible honour fills me with immense gratitude and pride. It underscores the value of perseverance and recognises the support I have received from my tutors, family, and friends.Â
What are you looking forward to next term?
Looking ahead to Trinity Term, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of summer. I can’t wait to go punting, get back into rowing, and relax outdoors. It is a chance to enjoy myself and make the best of everything Oxford has to offer.
What’s the best thing about Queen’s?
The people – everyone says it, but only because it is true. The students, professors, and staff are very friendly and always willing to help. Queen’s encourages everyone to bring their unique skills and passions to the table, creating a lively and welcoming environment that is truly one-of-a-kind.
