Members of the Choir were delighted to sing at Marlborough House on 10 March to help celebrate Commonwealth Day and the inaugural Commonwealth Peace Prize.

The peace prize was awarded to Rev Dr James Movel Wuye and Imam Dr Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa for their tireless work in peacebuilding.  The audience included Their Majesties the King and Queen and distinguished guests and high commissioners from the 56 nations of The Commonwealth.

Along with singers from The BRIT School, they sang the debut of Love in Peace, a song by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics by Ben Elton and Bruno Major.  The singers were thrilled to have a masterclass with Lloyd Webber as part of the rehearsals for the evening.

Choir Director Professor Owen Rees said:

It was an honour and a great pleasure to participate in the Commonwealth Day event at Marlborough House at which the winners of the inaugural Commonwealth Peace Prize received their award, and at which members of the choir joined soloists and instrumentalists to perform Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s song Love in Peace.
