For two days at the end of May, Queen’s held its first-ever Giving Day, Queen’s Gives. 400 members of the global Queen’s community came together and raised £267,274 to help ensure that current and future students have the best possible College experience.

The funds raised during this special campaign will support the College’s core activities: teaching and research, looking after the needs of students, and widening participation in Higher Education, particularly within our link regions in the North West. Queen’s is also grateful to everyone who made an unrestricted gift to the College’s areas of greatest need.

Special thanks go to the group of Queen’s Old Members who pledged to match every donation pound for pound, up to £105,000. The College could not have achieved such success in our first Giving Day without their support.

Dr Justin B. Jacobs, Director of Development, celebrated the generosity of Old Members and friends, as well as members of the College academic and support staff, who participated:

The response from the Queen’s community to our first-ever Giving Day has been truly phenomenal. The messages posted on the donor wall throughout the day have been wonderful to read, and it is clear that the Queen’s connection remains cherished and deeply valued by many of our Old Members.

Dr Jacobs also said:

Queen’s Gives has been a tremendous success and will provide direct support to our students, our academics, and those who may one day join us through our access and outreach work. That so many of our Old Members, staff, and friends chose to put their trust in Queen’s to direct their gift to where it is needed most is something for which the College is also immensely grateful.

Thank you again to the nearly 400 individuals who took a moment to reflect on what Queen’s means to them and made a gift on this very special occasion.’
