Choral, Organ, and Instrumental Awards
Choral Scholars, Organ Scholars and Instrumental award holders may read for any Honours Degree normally taught at Queen’s. Their admission to the College depends on being accepted by the tutors in the subjects that they wish to read. The duties of award holders will amount to not more than eight hours a week assisting with the music in chapel services, rehearsals for concerts, etc., subject to arrangement with the Fellow in Music and Organist, Professor Owen Rees.
The Choral and Organ Award Open Day
The University Music Faculty organises an Open Day in April each year. These days provide a great opportunity to find out about choral and organ awards. You will have the opportunity to meet and work with directors of music and current choral and organ scholars. There will be a programme of workshops and a chance to sing with the College choir for Choral Evensong. You will also receive advice on how to prepare for the organ and choral auditions. This is a wonderful chance to get a taste of what it would be like to be a choral or organ scholar at Oxford.
Further details of the Choral and Organ Award Open Days can be found on the Queen’s Choir website.
